Organisational and Leadership Resilience

Organisational and Leadership Resilience

“When leaders evolve, culture strengthens. When culture strengthens, organisations gain resilience and competitive advantage.”

Corporate Solutions

Synergy works with leaders and organisations to strengthen the psychological foundations that shape leadership, culture, and performance.

Synergy partners with select leaders and organisations through clinically informed, evidence-based leadership and culture work. Led by Lorrie Peniston, a psychotherapist and Senior Trainer with the University of Pennsylvania Penn Resilience Program, Synergy integrates clinical insight, resilience science, and practical leadership tools.

This work extends beyond traditional executive coaching by exploring not only what leaders do, but the underlying patterns that shape how they think, communicate, and make decisions. By strengthening psychological awareness and resilience, leaders are better equipped to influence culture, navigate complexity, and guide organisations through change.

A Distinct Approach

Many organisations are familiar with executive coaching, which often focuses on performance goals, communication skills, and leadership behaviours. While valuable, this work can remain primarily focused on observable outcomes.

Synergy’s approach brings an additional dimension. Drawing on clinical training and decades of experience working with individuals and relational systems, Lorrie helps leaders explore the deeper psychological dynamics that influence behaviour, decision-making, and organisational culture.

This clinically informed perspective allows leaders to develop not only new strategies, but deeper insight into the patterns that shape their leadership. The result is more durable change for both the individual leader and the broader organisation.

Executive coaching develops leadership skills. Clinical coaching transforms leaders. Together, they create the conditions for stronger cultures, greater organisational resilience, and sustainable growth.

Organisational Reflections

Strategic Executive Development

I worked with Lorrie during my gardening leave period before starting with a new company as CEO. The position represented some new challenges for me, and I was keen to use this period as an opportunity to prepare myself to be as effective a leader as possible, as well as evaluating and incorporating lessons learned from my prior corporate roles. Lorrie began by taking my personal history and helped me to uncover some deep-rooted emotional factors and drew clear links to the impact on my current mindset and leadership style. Over six sessions, she used a combination of excellent listening skills, probing questions, frank and accurate truth speaking, and clearly described well-tested tools and tactics to coach me through a comprehensive preparation for my new role. I got a huge amount of value out of this process - although its early days, I feel like the sessions impacted me at a deep level. I feel ready to take on this next step and will look forward to engaging more with Lorrie as I navigate my new role.

Bacardi's Well-Being Series

We had the distinct pleasure of collaborating with Lorrie over the course of a year, during which she facilitated a quarterly series of mental health and well-being seminars at Bacardi’s global corporate headquarters in Bermuda. Her work was clinically grounded, thoughtful, highly relevant, and engagement grew organically from session to session - an early indicator of the trust and value she established with our teams. In addition to the planned seminar series, Lorrie was also engaged during two significant critical incidents, where she provided consultation to leadership and direct support to employees navigating complex and emotionally charged situations. In those moments, her calm presence, sound clinical judgment, and ability to handle sensitive dynamics with discretion were invaluable. While our engagement was not designed as a formal organizational development initiative, Lorrie consistently created space for reflection, connection, and resilience in a way that was both practical and deeply human. She brings a rare combination of clinical expertise, steady authority, and professionalism. I would not hesitate to recommend Lorrie to organizations seeking credible, discreet, and clinically informed support for employee well-being and leadership resilience, particularly during periods of change or complexity.

Resilient and Ready Training

Attending Lorrie Peniston’s Resilient and Ready training turned out to be far more impactful than I expected. The session offered meaningful insight into what resilience truly looks like, especially in the face of everyday stress. Lorrie emphasized that while stress is unavoidable, the way we think about it shapes how deeply it affects us. A key takeaway was the idea that resilient people view stress not as a burden but as a challenge—something that can fuel growth and achievement. By shifting your mindset, stress becomes less of a roadblock and more of an opportunity to excel. Lorrie’s engaging style made the concepts easy to connect with, and the tools she shared offered practical ways to strengthen resilience moving forward. I left the training feeling more equipped to handle stress with intention, confidence, and a renewed sense of control.

Leadership Focused Workshop

We invited Lorrie to deliver a resilience focused leadership workshop for our team, and she exceeded every expectation. Leadership coaching can be tricky to get just right, but Lorrie struck a remarkable balance - combining thought provoking, research grounded insight with practical, actionable guidance that clearly resonated with a group of experienced professionals. Her good humour added warmth and relatability to the session, helping the room stay engaged and open throughout.

Her presentation materials were fantastic, and she facilitated a dynamic, thoughtful discussion that encouraged genuine participation. I believe everyone left feeling energized and equipped with new strategies that they could immediately apply in their work and daily lives, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. On this basis, I would highly recommend Lorrie to any organization seeking to strengthen resilience, elevate leadership capability and invest meaningfully in the development of their people.
